West Beyond the West is a search engine which provides access to some of the digitized collections related to BC history. It allows users to search the collections of libraries, archives, museums, historical societies, heritage and community groups, government agencies, and private collections in British Columbia and across Canada through a single search point. It includes a variety of media formats including digital images, text, audio and video materials.
West Beyond the West is an initiative of the BC Digitization Coalition, which seeks to digitize and promote materials and collections that showcase British Columbia’s rich cultural heritage.
The West Beyond the West search engine is currently not accepting new content because it is undergoing a major redesign. It is hoped the new search engine will launch in 2011.
